William Michael Compton ,72, of Hobart, IN., passed away at home on Thursday, June 9,2022, following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Catherine Compton of Gary, his sister, Connie Anderson and brother, Timothy Compton, both of Hobart. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy (nee Thompson) Compton. They would have celebrated their 50 ^th wedding anniversary, Sunday, June 12,2022. Also, surviving is his dearest daughter, Michele Rodriguez, and much-loved son, William Todd Compton, both of Hobart. Beloved granddaughter, Makinzy, and Peyton Rodriguez of Portage. Special Aunt, Ruthie Burlington, of Bedford, IN., and best friend since grammar school, Gus Cokus, of Hebron, IN. Leaving behind to miss Mike very much are his canine babies, Sweet Sierra, and Sassy Queen Ethel. Mike attended Lew Wallace and was a member of class of 1969. Mike proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Army. Always an avid sportsman, Mike especially enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada with his best buds and his hunting trips with his dad and his cousins. Mike was employed at U.S. Steel (formerly Midwest Steel) for 41 years as a motor inspector. He retired in 2011 and enjoyed his leisurely days with his family.

Visitation for Mike will be Monday, June 13, 2022, at First Baptist Church of New Chicago, 401 Huber Blvd., Hobart, IN., from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with funeral services at the church Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Jerry Stepp and Rev.
