William H. Knight, age 82, of Hobart, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020 peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born on October 19, 1937 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Howard and Ruth Knight. On September 8, 1956, Bill married Patricia Ann Wall in Gary, Indiana. Both were 1955 graduates of Tolleston High School. Bill was a dedicated family man who instilled his work ethic into his children.  He dedicated over 35 years to Bethlehem Steel where he was among the first employees upon opening. Bill had so many interests. He shared his love of golfing with his friends in Myrtle Beach then with his son-in-law and grandson in the Robbinhurst golf league. So many people shared in the 25+ years of fly-fishing trips to Canada, where the tradition will live on. He loved to share his joy of coin collecting with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Our hearts are heavy saying good bye but we rejoice knowing he is with the love of his life once again.

He is survived by his son, Rick (Carrie) Knight; daughters, Lynn (Richard) Van Meter, Lori Alexander, Lee Anne (Lynn) Womack, Leslie (Terry Hough) Sanders; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; brother, Dennis (Karen) Knight; sister, Judy Matan; sister-in-law, Sandra Bumber.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia (Wall) Knight; son-in-law, Richard Sanders III; grandsons, SPC Greg Sanders, Richard Dean Sanders III and R.L. Van Meter.

Visitation for Bill will be held Monday, August 24, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
