William Edward "Whisker Bill" Krieter, age 74, of Valparaiso, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Evanston Hospital. "Whisker Bill" had been a lifelong Northwest Indiana resident and heavy equipment operator with Operating Engineers Local # 150 for 43 years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion South Haven Post #502.
Bill is survived by his companion of 44 years, Susan Anderson of Valparaiso, 9 sons & daughters: Debra (Ted) Oboy of Merrillville, William E. Krieter, Jr. of Orlando, FL, Kathy (Dave) McDaniel of Crown Point, Cindy (Bill) Handlon of Indianapolis, IN, Kevin (Lisa) Krieter of Crown Point, Dawn (Bill) Slaydon of Hobart, Susan (Larry) Milby of Lowell, Billie Jo (Pete) Cyprian of Portage and Mark (Melissa) Krieter of Hebron, step-son, Lonnie (Monica) Anderson, 2 brothers and 3 sisters, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers contributions to his companion, Susan Anderson would be appreciated.
Memorial visitation will be held Friday, February 15, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, with the memorial service beginning at 8:00 pm.
