William "Bill" Malinoff, age 85, of Hobart, passed away Thursday March 10, 2016. Bill was born on May 22, 1930 to the late Nicholas and Mary (nee Dorochoff) Malinoff. He was a steelworker at U.S. Steel Gary Sheet and Tin Mill. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Station. Bill enjoyed watching sports, such as the White Sox, Bears, Colts, Bulls, and Notre Dame. Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother in law.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Leona "Peggy" (nee Detterline); two daughters, Debbie (Wayne) Slayton, Mary (Scott) Schutz; two sons, Bill (Shannon) Malinoff, Tom (Denise) Malinoff; nine grandchildren, Adam, Andy, Jason, Jeremy, Josh, Jamie, Jessi, Jacob, Anne; one great granddaughter, Viviana; Sister in law, Nelle Malinoff; in laws, Tom and Vera Kalberer, Les and Lois Detterline, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Nick Malinoff.
An 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial for Bill will begin with 10:15 am prayers on Tuesday March 15, 2016 at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel and process to St. Francis Xavier Church, 2447 Putnam Street, Lake Station, IN 46405 with Rev. David Kime officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN 46342 and Tuesday at 9:30 am at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.
