William "Dale" Smith

William Dale Smith, age 48, of Portage passed away suddenly Thursday August 3, 2018.  He was a lifelong Northwest Indiana Resident that was born January 16, 1970 in East Chicago, Indiana to James and Betty (King) Smith.  Dale was a Water Plant Technician working for Indiana-American Water Company.  Dale was the proud owner of a Honda VTX 1800 and was a member of Legion Riders and the Sons of the American Legion in Hobart. He supported American Veteran Motorcycle Riders Association (AVMRA) and the Patriot Guard.  Dale loved riding his motorcycle whenever possible.

He is survived by his loving wife Tracy; his son, William Cody Smith; his parents James (Chyral) Smith of Plymouth and Betty Smith of Lowell; four brothers and sisters, Alvin "Frankie" (Janet) Smith of Highland, Annette, (Charles) Moore of Portage, Gerald Smith of White Plains, KY and Tracey McNorton of Lowell; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Dale was preceded in death by his sister Gayla Smith.

Funeral services will be 7:00 pm Tuesday August 7, 2018 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana 46368.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts are preferred to Dale's family.
