William "Sonny" Torres

WILLIAM "Sonny" TORRES, age 75, of Hobart, passed away February 9, 2017 at St. Mary Medical Center while surrounded by his loving family. Sonny was born in Gary, IN on June 28, 1941 to the late Pedro and Cora Torres. He was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School class of 1961. Sonny proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was retired from Inland Steel after 30 years of service. He was also a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.

He married the love of his life on October 25, 1968. Sonny's entire world revolved around his devoted wife, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and Notre Dame football. He was a true "blue & gold wearin' game watchin' diehard fan".

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Christine (nee Frosolone); 3 daughters, Jackie Westerfield, Becky (Steve) Haller and Kathy (Brian) Collins all of Valparaiso; 7 grandchildren, Kate, Lexie, Mia, Bryce, Jack, Reed, Brynna and great-granddaughter, Gracie. Siblings, Peter (Gerri) Torres, Margaret Blaney, Ron (Suzy) Torres; and many nieces and nephews.
Sonny was also preceded in death by his 2 sisters, Anita Laco and Arlene Martinez.

Sonny will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
