William E. Stanfield

William E. Stanfield, age 87, of Hobart, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018. William was born to Clarence and Thelma Stanfield on November 10, 1930 in Gary, Indiana. William married Joyce Ramsay on July 6, 1950, who preceded him in death in 2010. William was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. William had a successful career as the Maintenance Supervisor for 40 years, 5 months and 15 days at American Maize Corn Products (Cargill). As William leaves to rejoin Joyce, he takes our hearts with him.

William is survived by his sons, Bill (Diane) Stanfield of Somerville, AL, Tom (Renee) Stanfield of Lowell, David (Ronalynn) Stanfield of Portage; daughters, Kathi (Darryl Watson) Stefanich of Lake Station, Shari Stanfield of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Jenifer Komosa, Joe (Katie) Stefanich, Alisha (John) Davis, Shandra (Max Mayfield) Stanfield, Katie (Walter) Sarnowski, Kristie (Tyler) Young, Lindsey (Kevin Funke) Watson; 8 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Beverly Fitzgerald, Gail Ramsay.

Memorial contributions are preferred to Visiting Nurse Association Foundation, 2401 Valley Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383-2520.

A funeral service for William will take place Monday, January 8, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Pastor Charles Strietelmeier officiating. He will be laid to rest at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary. Visitation will be held Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. For more information, please call (219) 942-2109.
