WILLIAM R. STEWART, age 76, of Hobart, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 9, 1941 in Mortons Gap, KY. Bill graduated from Portage High School and worked as a welder at US Steel. He was a member of the Michigan Ave. United Methodist Church, the Goodfellows Club and enjoyed restoring old cars and caring for his yard in his spare time. Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna (nee Casey); 4 children, Hugh (Debbie) Stewart, Tony (Barb) Arnold, Randall (Stephanie) Stewart, and LaVaughn (Jeff) Stewart; 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Nancy (Bob) Wilson and Virginia Farthing; brother-in-law, Roy Woody; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William K. and Grace Stewart; and sister, Shirley Woody.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to William's family or to the Michigan Ave. United Methodist Church.

A funeral service for Bill will be Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m .at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Rev. Michael Cover officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, (219) 942-2109
