WILLIAM CHARLES TAYLOR, age 70, of Lake Station, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015. He was born to William Harris and Vondeall (nee Winegar) Taylor on November 28, 1944. William was a lifelong resident of Lake Station, he was a meat cutter for 45 years at Strack & Van Til and retired in 2007. He was an excellent baseball player and donated his time at the Lake Station Little League coaching his 4 children and finishing up with coaching his grandchildren. William was a humble man who loved his family. He had a kind and generous heart, who thought about everyone else before himself.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dale Taylor; and brother, Robert Taylor.
William is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Ruth Taylor and 4 children, Kim (Chris) Frizzell, Bill (Tonya) Taylor, Scott (Teena) Taylor all of Lake Station, and Kathy (Dan) Lynch of Portage; 10 grandchildren, Noah, Nikki and Adam Frizzell, Brittany, Meagen, Kiersten Taylor, Justin and Jordan Taylor, Danielle and Ashley Lynch; 2 great grandchildren, Mason Taylor and Faith Otis along with 1 great grandchild on the way; sister, Jo Ann Wright; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. There will be additional visitation at Grace Nazarene Church on Thursday from 10:00 until time of service. Funeral services for William will be Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Church of the Nazarene, 5360 Clem Rd., Portage, with Rev. Mark L. Hostetler officiating.
