William F. Waldorph, age 93, of Hobart, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012. He had been a Hobart resident since 1954 and was a member of the Community Christian Church in Hobart. William was a WWII Army veteran and retired from U.S. Steel in 1983 with 32 years of service. He was also a member of the United Steelworkers Local Union #3008; Hobart American Legion Post #54 and the Hobart Art League. William had been shot by a playmate when he has 9 years old and still carries the bullet. William is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vieslava Waldorph of Hobart; 3 children, Howard (Margie) Hershey of Bloomington, IN, David Hershey of Florence, AZ, Joanne Sue (Greg) Yonan of Chicago, IL; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by daughter Ruth Ann Waldorph; daughter-in-law, Jane Hershey; brother Harry "Hank" Waldorph; 4 sisters Ruth, Helen, Mildred and Mary Alice. Funeral Services will be held for William on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. from Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Mr. Steve Campbell officiating. Cremation will take place following the services.
