Willie D. Anderson, age 90, of Portage, IN and formerly of Gibbs, KY, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 29, 2021.

Willie was born on July 23, 1931 in Gibbs, KY to the late Hershel and Minnie (nee Cobb) Anderson.  Willie was a US Army Veteran who served during the Korean War.  He married the love of his life, Eva (nee Smith) Anderson on November 16, 1953 and spent 55 wonderful years together until her death in 2009.  Willie was a steelworker for US Steel but was known as a jack of all trades.  He built a shower for his troops while stationed in Japan and built subdivisions, homes, and Grace Baptist Church in Portage.  Willie was never idle and took pride in being handy.  On Saturdays, Willie enjoyed meeting with his friends at McDonald's on Central Avenue.  Willie was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Willie is survived by his children: Ronnie (Cindi) Anderson, Arleen Anderson, and Willadean (Ken) Thiery; sisters: Vera (late Denvis) Fields, Allie (Denver) Frazier, Jackie (Harold) Smith, and Imogene (late Robert) Zerck; grandchildren: Tina (Joey) Privett, Kortney (Kevin) Warkentin, Emilie (Michael) Cox, Joshua (Thea) Bacon, and Kayla Anderson; great-grandchildren: Brittany, Justin, Alexis, Jayden, Nicolai, Louis, Gemma, and Marcy; and many nieces and nephews.

Willie is preceded in death by his wife: Eva; his parents: Hershel and Minnie; his brothers: Duane (late Linda) Anderson and JB (late Lois) Anderson; and his grandson: David Anderson.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel (5341 Central Ave, Portage) on Monday, August 2, 2021 from 3:00-8:00 P.M.   Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. from Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel with Pastor Don Good officiating.  At Rest: McCool Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to Bible Baptist Church (6659 U.S. Hwy 6, Portage, IN 46368).
