Obituary

Wilma Duncan-Cook, age 81 a longtime area resident passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019.  She was born on March 6, 1938 to the late Dewey and Myrtle Smith.  She went to beauty school and was a homemaker and a beautician. She was a member of the Heartland Christian Center of Valparaiso. She taught Sunday school at several churches in the area.  Wilma also loved crafting and flowers.

She is survived by one daughter, Anita (Dewey) Mayfield of Valparaiso, IN; two step-sons, Jackie (Kim) Cook of Portage, IN; Barry Cook of Portage, IN; three brothers,  Claudie (Aielene) Smith, Dewey (Doris) Smith, and Huey (Arlene) Smith all of Missouri, 8 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Duncan and Maylon "Jack" Cook, three sisters, Edith, Sylvia Rhodes, Pauline Noble, four brothers, Everett Smith, Arless Smith, Prentice Smith, and Sampson Smith.

Funeral services are Monday, August 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage with Pastor Phil Willingham officiating.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Portage.  Visitation is Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, Portage.  (219) 762-3013.
