Charles Clayton Weyant

Charles Clayton Weyant, age 87, a Portage resident since 1960 passed away Friday, December 26, 2025.  He was born on February 11, 1938, in Claysburg, Pennsylvania to the late George and Jessie Weyant.  Charles was a member of the First Baptist Church of Portage where he also served as a Deacon.  Charles loved fishing, softball, and working jigsaw puzzles.

He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Joyce Weyant (nee Smith) of Portage, IN; three daughters, Cathy (Don) Albertson of Elwood, IL; Pam (Jeff) Williams of Portage, IN; Kim (the late Calvin) Wheeler of Valparaiso, IN; one sister, Mary (the late Tom) Wolfe of Blue Knob, PA; grandchildren, Joshua (Jill) Wheeler, Cameron (Lilli) Williams, Natalie (Fiancé Mac) Albertson, Austin (girlfriend Alex) Williams, great-grandchildren, Sophie, Lacie, CJ, Noah, Breckyn, and Evan.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Herman, Bill, Harry, Ed, and John, and two grandchildren, Travis Wheeler, and Infant Brian Albertson.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Charles' honor may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 34, Portage, IN  46368.

Visitation is Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. Funeral services are Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 11a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, Portage with Pastor Terry Gibson officiating.  Additional visitation is just prior to the service on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.   Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.  Please call 219-762-3013 with any questions or visit us  online at www.Reesfuneralhomes.com.
